Happy Anniversary

It has been a wild and fun ride. Life comes at you fast and you sometimes just have to hold on. But let me tell you, there is no one else I would rather be on the 'ride of life' with than my David. We have been married for 8 years. But who is counting...
I sure love my David and I can not even for one second imagine spending my life with anyone else. We are not perfect, but we are perfect for each other. We make a good team, "Team Schultz". We have taught the kids this phrase and it is our little family motto. So here is to my David and to a lifetime of being together.
Married 8 years... today. I love you.

First Day, Hooray!

Summer picked out her outfit by herself, the night before and could not wait to wear her new silver shoes. She was so excited, she said, "Mommy, do not forget my apple to bring to the classroom" (for a class project) when I tucked her in bed. This morning I took our usual spot for first day pictures on the front porch. The kids kept asking, "Is it time to go... is it time to go...??!!" It made me smile and my heart content.
Forrest feels very grown up and just like Summer, going to preschool is a big deal. They get their own preschool book bag to use. I dropped him off and he found four of his friends are in his class. Off to the train table he went and signed a big, "Bye mom!" After picking up the kids, I asked how their first day went and how they liked their teachers. Summer said, "10 thumbs up, mommy" while Forrest held up two big thumbs up with a big smile. So I guess today was a success.
I am so happy that they are happy. That's all you really want as a mom. Such a simple thing but it is amazing how great it is to see your kids with smiles. So, here's to a great school year!

David & Deck Update

Where do I begin? David has done it again. He is so driven to complete the deck by Halloween. He is an amazing person. Everyday I ask myself, how did I ever get lucky to find this extraordinary person. In between his full time job and teaching two classes this semester, he still manages to have energy to do this project. I know once this is done, the kids will be thrilled to have a flat space where Summer can do gymnastics and Forrest can play with his cars.

Apple Juice

While Summer is in art class every other Sunday afternoon, I grab this precious opportunity to spend solo time with Forrest. After I dropped off Summer today, I told Forrest that I would get him his own drink at the gas station on the way to the park. His eyes lit up instantly. He said, "All mine?" Usually when the kids get something, they share. And whenever they get juice, it is diluted, 3/4 water with 1/4 juice. But not today. It was his special treat and he chose an apple juice. Just seeing him in all smiles and getting all giddy about this simple treat, even though it was just for an hour and half, made my heart love him even more.
When we got to the park, the first thing Forrest did was to drink his apple juice. He kept saying "All mine, all mine, all mine". He sat, watched the kids playing for a few minutes, then went to his favorite spot - the slide. He loves walking up the slide then sliding down on his belly. When Forrest is with his big sister, he would follow her around. But not today. He did exactly what he wanted to do. I feel the last picture of him smiling in his car seat just before we left the park to pick up Summer, best shows his true happiness.
I love that you are mine, Forrest.
I love spending time with you.
I love you.

Where Was I?

I had to share this cute moment I had with Summer over lunch today. Summer wanted to play with my wedding ring. After mingling with it for a few minutes, she looked up with her ever curious face staring straight at me and asked:
Why do you wear a ring?Mommy loves Daddy very much and this ring symbolizes the love we have for each other.
Who gave it to you?Daddy.
Why?
Because he loves Mommy.
Who gave daddy his ring?
Mommy.
Why?
Because Mommy loves Daddy.
Where was I?
You weren't born.
where was I?
You weren't born..
Where was I?!?
You weren't born...!
Where was I?!?!?!
You weren't born yet. Daddy and I were waiting for you. (She didn't quite understand this). After a few years of being married, we were given you from God. You were a present to us that we prayed for for many years.
Why wasn't I at the wedding?
You weren't born.
Why?
(The why's continues...)

Summer Antoinette

Summer.
She's so sweet and so sensitive. A real mama's girl. She is appropriately named, her eyes are like a blue summer sky. She looks like a real breath of fresh air.
Silly saying: "baby soup" for bathing suit.
Loves to: play with her little brother. A bit bossy sometimes but I think that comes with the territory of being the big sister. Loves to play dress up. Loves to watch TV. Summer could watch TV all day long if I let her.
Sous chef palate: Loves peppers, carrots, salads, tomatoes, and peas more than sweets.
Always always asks: "Why" for everything in this world. Sometimes I get annoyed when she asks the silliest "why" but I remind myself that I am her mommy.
She reminds me of me in so many ways. Summer is my beautiful little girl and I feel so honored to be her mom.
