True Love

This girl LOVES gymnastics. I was looking through my photos from last year and happened to come across this one. Last summer I found her outside on the front yard just like this and I knew I had to take this picture. I am so glad I did. She was serious, focused and disciplined. I was remembering how every single day she would beg to take gymnastics. She wanted a break from swimming which was completely fine by me. At that time, I had signed her up for gymnastics lessons starting in early January but Summer couldn't wait any longer and took the whole bag of tennis balls outside to practice her moves.

Carpe Diem

Growing up this was my motto to do something I shouldn't be doing... spending money I shouldn't be spending. Well, last week I declared a carpe diem day. I put my errands on the back burner when I realized I only had Forrest with me while Summer was at gymnastics. After we dropped off Summer at the gym, we turned around and ran into a toy store, bought a $5 propeller kit and we carpe diem-ed our afternoon away by the bath tub.

Simple Pleasures

I have always disliked our bed in our master bedroom since the day it first arrived years ago. I tried to return it for weeks but they said no - they would only allow a 20% discount but the answer was still, no. Nice. It was really ugly. I put up with it for too many years and then I came up with a plan. We didn't "need" a new bed and so I felt frivolous getting another one. I then proposed to David if I sold the one we had and made the rest of the money myself I could then get a new one. One that I really liked. My old bed sold in one day on Craigslist. The rest of the money I came up by selling other random things on Craigslist. David even threw in a few things he didn't use anymore to add to my "frivolous bed frame fund". Just before Fall arrived last year and timed perfectly with a coupon for Pottery Barn, I had enough money to buy our new bed. I fell in love with the Caroline Bed when I first saw it in the PB catalog. It has an off white antiqued, distressed look that I was going for. I love how this sits high on the frame. It is everything I wanted.
The room is definitely not finished. The picture frames are still not hung. I am on the hunt to find the perfect night tables... hopefully at one of my favorite consignment shops. I am a sucker for "all things pretty". How can a piece of furniture make me so happy? I love it and my Summer does too. Any time anyone stops by, she asks them if they wanted to see, "Mommy's new bed because it is soo beautiful!" I have trained her well.

The Helper

Forrest is one awesome floor sweeper... only when he thinks it's a guitar.
It's the little things like this I never want to forget.

Mama Summer

We call our Summer, "Wild Woman". She is outgoing, brave and inquisitive. That being said, she happens to also be the sweetest little mommy. If she's inside, she's playing with her babies. This morning before church she was brushing her doll Lily's hair on my bed while waiting for her turn in the shower. She just looked so sweet and innocent. She was being so gentle with her baby and it was adorable. Summer looked at me and said, "Mom, my baby had A LOT of tangles in her hair and she didn't even cry once. She's brave!" Too cute.

Merry

I took almost this exact photo of Summer last Christmas on our front porch. It's incredible how fast she is growing up. Wishing I could slow it down somehow.
