Memorial Day

We spent Memorial Day at the pool. It was so much fun and made me so excited for summertime. David played in the water with the kids nonstop. They love playing dolphin and cannonball with their daddy. Forrest had a blast jumping off the platform. I came home with splotchy burned legs which is completely typical of my first time out each summer. I can't wait for more days just like this. Between the lake, the beach and the pool I think we are set for this summer.

Daddy Time

David asked Summer this past week if she wanted to go sailing. Just the two of them. Of course, Summer said yes. When David asked if she wanted to spend the night in the sailboat on the lake, she jumped up and down with so much excitement. David picked her up at school yesterday then they made the 35-minute drive to the lake. I asked David to take a picture with his phone this morning and I love the sunrise... but I love this little girl's face even more. I know they have fun sailing together but the best part for both of them is having time together.

Water Boy

I started Forrest back up with swim lessons. He was begging me daily to start again. I was just not wanting to add another place for me to be during the week. He would put his swim shorts on almost daily and ask if we were going to the pool. I couldn't take it anymore, it made me feel pretty bad. A few days ago as I was tucking him into bed I told him that Monday morning he would be going to his swim lessons. He squealed with excitement. This morning he had his swim shorts on at 6am ready to go. It is totally worth the extra effort on my part. I mean, come on... look at that sweet, happy face. Love him.

Fire Station

Forrest's preschool class had a field trip to the local fire station. So fun. We saw a fire truck do a siren and went to see the pole. Forrest's favorite however was standing on the rim of the fire truck pretending that he is a real fire fighter.

Summer the Pirate

I realized 15 minutes before Forrest's pirate party started that Summer had to be in costume. We made it work and she thought she looked like a real pirate which was all that mattered. She was amazed at my skills. The costume in reality was a lame attempt on my part. I'll be sad when my kids start realizing that I'm not really as great as they think I am. I know that day is fast approaching. Until then - I'm soaking it up.

Mother's Day

I had a very Happy Mother's Day.
Over the past week I LOVED receiving all of the homemade little gifts the kids came home with celebrating Mother's Day. Forrest gave me a print of his drawing of me and a paper listing his answers about me.

Summer gave me a booklet with her own writing on how she knows I love her.

(I am special)

A good reminder for me to remember that it is all about the little everyday things that my little ones notice. I was one of the little girls that dreamed of being a mom from as far back as I can remember. It's so fun to now have sweet little faces to put on the little people I always hope I would someday get to mother.
I love you - Summer and Forrest. Being your mama makes me happy.

The Party

Forrest had a Pirate Birthday Party yesterday for his birthday. We had a cookout for lunch, a treasure hunt, walk the plank, and of course the birthday pirate cupcakes. The little pirates loved the games and had so much fun. The party favors we handed out were the treasure boxes and the water noodle swords. Forrest is a lucky boy to have such a great group of friends. I would say it was a pretty great way to kick-off his year as a big 4 year old. Happy Birthday to my #1 boy. I love, love, love being your mommy, Forrest.

Happy 4th Birthday!

Today is our Forrest's 4th birthday. David woke him up early and took him to the bagel shop and then to Port City Java for hot chocolate for his special day... just the two of them. This is a HUGE deal. He loves the bagel shop and begs for them every time we drive by the shop. Well, today was his lucky day and daddy let him pick whatever he wanted. David has to give out finals for his class tonight and can't be with us so this was his special way of celebrating with him before he had to leave. What a good daddy! When Forrest came home we had his present wrapped and waiting for him. He has been wanting talking Buzz Lightyear to add to his toy story collection for a long time now. He has not left his grasp ever since he laid his eyes on Buzz Lightyear. Can you tell he's excited? We are going to do a little party for him this weekend but until then he's set!
Happy Birthday, sweet Forrest.
WE YOU!
