Easter Morning

The Easter Bunny came to our home. Before bed the kids tore the last chains off of their "countdown to easter" paper chains in their rooms. I still can't get over how excited they get about every single holiday.  Easter Morning is one of my favorites. The kids were thrilled with the little gifts and chocolates left in their basket.  Summer could not believe the Easter Bunny ate the carrots and drank all the hot chocolate. Summer could not put her new book "Olivia Saves the Circus" down and Forrest went nuts for his new little lego toy.

Easter Sunday

Here are the kids in their Easter Best on our way out the door for church. They love to coordinate outfits. Someday they won't so I am taking advantage of it now. I managed to wipe all the chocolate off of their faces for this picture. They had just finished a healthy breakfast of peeps, chocolates and jelly beans.

One Hundred

This afternoon Forrest said to me, "Mama, I love you 100". For a little boy who can only count to 38, that is an awful lot of love. I was very flattered. And to my sweet Forrest, I love you to infinity.

2 More Sleeps

2 more "sleeps" until Easter. We measure days around our house in terms of "sleeps". How many times do we have to go to bed before... whatever fun thing is coming up. Summer and Forrest are excited for the Easter Bunny's visit to our home. The countdown has been going on for weeks in our home. Summer and Forrest made paper chains that hang in their bedrooms so they can be SURE to know how many more days until "THE BIG DAY". Yesterday I was a parent helper with Summer's class for the Easter Egg Hunt. I helped hide the eggs while Forrest held the bag of eggs in one hand and waved the egg in his other hand to everybody saying, "That's mine!" How cute is this girl's expression when she found her favorite candy in one of the eggs? A bit blurry but I had a restless Forrest on my hip so what could I expect? It was so fun to be a part of her day and to have a glimpse into her Kindergarten life.

We have a busy day today and lots of things are on my to-do list to get ready for Easter. However, there is one important thing that Summer will NOT let me forget. We have to stop at the grocery store to get the Easter Bunny carrots and hot chocolate. According to Summer, the Easter Bunny will be sad if he doesn't have both. He loves hot chocolate, right?

Secrets

Summer taught Forrest the art of telling secrets. It is THEIR little thing they do together and they will not tell me what they are saying. Forrest seems to go along with it but Summer is really confiding in Forrest. It is pretty cute. I love watching these siblings interact. Priceless. I hope they will continue to confide in each other for the rest of their lives. That's what siblings are for.

Spring has Sprung

We are getting ready for Easter in our home. I couldn't believe it was time to get the decorations out already. Summer was thrilled when I told her we could get our Easter tree out. I keep it in the closet upstairs and she is always eyeing it and asking when it is time to get it out. We made it official the other day and set our little things up around the house. I would have to say, the favorite decoration by a landslide is our Easter tree. It is adorned with pretty painted eggs. The kids love to hop onto the dining table and admire our tree.

Magic Lemonade

After preschool today, Forrest wanted to make magic lemonade, "just like the way Mommy makes". I make it for the kids regularly. I taught him this very top secret magic trick... start stirring the lemonade, say "abracadabra" and then let go. And guess what, the spoon spins all by itself! Amazing. I am dying over Forrest's reaction. He really is amazed each time. Love it.

On the Inside

In my mind, Summer is still my baby. I can't get over how grown up she is looking lately. At times I'll look at her and get a glimpse as to how she'll look when she's older. I love babies but I must say Summer getting older is really fun too. She is constantly told how much she looks like her daddy. And it's true. She is a Schultz through and through. A dead ringer for David when he was little and David looks just like his dad. The other night laying in bed she said, "Mama, I know I look like daddy but I think I'm just like you on the inside."
How cute is that? It's true too. She is a lot like me.
As she was drifting off to sleep, I told her she was perfect and not to change a thing. She whispered back, "Mama, what if the glue on my chin falls off while I sleep - is that ok?"
I assured her that would be fine. She would still be perfect.
